The Mojave Origin Story

David Royer, Microphone Prototypes, and Dave Catching’s Rancho de la Luna

We caught up with Eagles of Death Metal’s Dave Catching in his iconic studio, Rancho de la Luna. Cradled in the dusty jags of Joshua Tree, Rancho has been home to Queens of the Stone Age, Arctic Monkeys, Iggy Pop, Foo Fighters, and many more. Mojave Audio and Rancho de la Luna have a surreal shared history, from the moment Dave Royer first showed up on his dirt bike holding a Royer prototype in a sock.
