Mojave/Royer
Microphones Listening Session
The Memphis Chapter of The Recording Academy® and
The Recording Academy's Producers & Engineers Wing (P&E
Wing) presented a Mojave/Royer Microphone listening Session at
Ardent Studios on Monday, November 5th. Microphones were set up
in the studio and Susan
Marshall and her band performed as the
session was recorded. Attendees then listened to the tracks and
asked questions about the different microphones and their placement.
Microphones were then re-positioned and the band recorded again.
Well-known producer and engineer Jeff Powell (Bob Dylan, Big Star,
Beth Orton, Tonic, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Primal Scream, and The Afghan
Whigs) hosted the event and ran sound. Dusty Wakeman of Mojave
Audio also led the discussion and answered questions. The event
allowed both members of The Recording Academy, as well as non-members
insight into the audio engineering field. Attendees were given
a great opportunity to network with fellow Memphians and with some
of the leaders in the production and engineering field.
